OUR STORY
(Michelle) Tee Houang
Tee, also known as Mishi, Mochi, Misstee, and her least favorite, Michelle, depending on who you ask, is very excited to have all of her favorite people in the same room! A video game developer, animal and insect lover, plant mama, and a big fan of less-luck-more-skill board games, she's always down for some boba!
Collin Isao Ogata
Collin (no nicknames unfortunately!) still can’t believe this is all happening! He’s a lawyer for kids, which is probably the second coolest job after video game developer. He also enjoys board games, video games, card games, sports…basically any game! Loves rice as much as he fears mushrooms, and will probably share 100% of his dessert with you unless it’s a churro or chocolate chip cookie!
The Beginning
"The Dating App Designed to Be Deleted." If you're looking for recommendations for a dating app, both would tell you about Hinge, which is how they met! Unable to resist the photo of Monty and Juno (see photo to the right), she messaged first, inquiring about the adorable puppies. It wasn't long before they had their first date in front of Cha for Tea at 7PM, where they stayed and talked into well after all the stores were closed. The mouse leaping around the nearby bushes, the paramedics that ran by, or the midnight chill were all unable to end the date. The second and the third dates went just as well and the rest, as they say, is history.
STRIKE A POSE
The Middle
Now the couple likes to spend their time together thinking about (and sometimes actually) playing board games and Pokemon Go, figuring out puzzles (both 1000 pieces, riddles, or sudoku), shopping at Costco and Target, searching for new squishmallows, talking about how confusing idioms and a good chunk of the English language is, paddle boarding, and trying to agree on what show or movie to watch with their meal (horror!!). There are also attempts at learning Spanish (over 300 days on Duolingo!), trying to stay active (batting cages, hikes), and planning vacations. Y'know, the usual :)
The Proposal
Apparently, we're both really terrible at telling stories, so we'll just bullet point the day!
Collin planned an outing out to San Diego on September 4th, 2022:
Boba from Camellia Road Tea Bar
Lunch at Tasty Noodle House
Stole a sword back from an antique store at Red Door (escape room)
Checked in at The Guild and watched some League of Legends matches
Walked to the nearby theater and caught The Lion King musical
Arrived at the top of a hill and watched fireworks
BAM! Engaged! (Maybe? She laughed and accepted the ring so we're probably good!)
Got really delicious burritos at Los Panchos Tacos
But wait, there’s more!
One month later in Hawaii, after a day of hiking Diamondhead, eating poke, snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, snacking on malasadas, shopping for rings (what a misdirection!), and scouting for a good spot to watch the sky, Tee made her own proposal! Collin was so enthralled by the fireworks that he took a while to notice the light up box out with a ring in front of his face! He had no idea it was coming, and she had even snuck it in his backpack for most of the trip without him noticing. Finally, he could say that he was now engaged too!
Love is a choice. It's made everyday,
with every action and inaction.
Small stones can make big mountains.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
